I believe that education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and create positive change in the world. From Tennessee, to Delaware, to Japan....education has shaped who I am.
Learning should be engaging, interactive, and fun. That's why I have developed a unique approach to teaching that allows students to apply what they are learning while they are learning.
Service to the community is central to what I do. From volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters to creating a Brave Space Conversation with the Hooksett Area Rotary Club.
My current research focuses on exploring the implications of providing higher in prison in New Hampshire. In addition, I have researched and developed the Community Engagement Model that outlines how to build courses that allow students to address social issues in the community using what they are learning in the classroom.
I love musicals and especially The Color Purple. What started as a simple night at the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford, CT turned into Project AIM. This is the very first higher education in prison program in the nation that uses micro-credentials as a pathway for incarcerated learners to obtain a college degree. I was so excited to have a former participant of Project AIM, Renel Domond, join me as a panelist for the Black New England Conference. Watch the video and learn more about his journey from incarceration to entrepreneurship.
What would happen if you redefined what it means to be an honors student? What if you removed the GPA requirement to participate in the program? I did just that and in five years....the results are in.
